Day 1 — Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Oukaimeden

Your birdwatching journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Marrakech or the airport. We then drive into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains towards the famous ski resort of Oukaimeden.

Along the way, we begin our birding experience with several resident species such as:

• Moroccan Magpie
• Moussier’s Redstart
• Southern Grey Shrike
• Little Owl
• Sardinian Warbler
• House Bunting
• Blue Rock Thrush
• Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker

As we climb higher into the mountains, we reach Oukaimeden, one of Morocco’s most important high-altitude birding sites.

Here we search for alpine and mountain specialties including:

• Crimson-winged Finch
• Rock Sparrow
• Alpine Chough
• Atlas Horned Lark

Dinner and overnight stay in a local mountain hotel.

Day 2 — High Atlas Mountains → Ouarzazate → Boumalne Dades

Today we leave the high mountains and cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters above sea level.

This scenic drive offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, especially for raptors such as:

• Long-legged Buzzard
• Bonelli’s Eagle

We continue towards Ouarzazate and explore the Mansour Eddahbi Barrage, an important wetland area where we may observe:

• Marbled Duck
• Ruddy Shelduck
• Black-winged Stilt
• Maghreb Lark
• Cormorants
• Various waterbirds

Later, we pass through Skoura oasis and the beautiful Valley of Roses before reaching Boumalne Dades.

Dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable local hotel.

Day 3 — Boumalne Dades → Tagdilt Track → Dades Gorge → Ouarzazate

Today we enjoy a full day of birdwatching in one of Morocco’s most famous desert-edge locations.

We start with the legendary Tagdilt Track, known for its rich diversity of desert and steppe species. Here we look for:

• Trumpeter Finch
• Thekla Lark
• Hoopoe Lark
• Temminck’s Lark
• Short-toed Lark
• Red-rumped Wheatear
• Cream-coloured Courser
• Desert Wheatear
• Thick-billed Lark

Later, we explore the dramatic Dades Gorge, a stunning canyon landscape where we may observe:

• Bonelli’s Eagle
• Tristram’s Warbler
• Blue Rock Thrush

In the evening, we return to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel.

Day 4 — Ouarzazate → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

On the final day of the tour, we travel back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, once again crossing the beautiful Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

We will make several birding stops along the way depending on conditions, giving us one last chance to observe raptors, mountain species, and scenic landscapes.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Marrakech where the tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or airport transfer.
