Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Morocco Atlas, Sahara & Souss Birding Tour from Marrakech
Day 1 — Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Oukaimeden
Your Morocco birdwatching adventure begins in Marrakech, where we meet you at your hotel or at Marrakech airport before heading towards the High Atlas Mountains and the famous birding area of Oukaimeden.
This region offers an excellent introduction to Morocco’s mountain birdlife. During the day, we search for species including:

- Moussier’s Redstart

Day 2 — Atlas Mountains → Ouarzazate → Boumalne Dades

Along the route, we search for Tristram’s Warbler and keep an eye on the skies for impressive raptors such as Long-legged Buzzard and Bonelli’s Eagle.
Near Amerzgane, we stop in search of the rare Maghreb Wheatear before continuing through Skoura’s palm groves and traditional kasbah landscapes.

Day 3 — Boumalne Dades → Tagdilt Track
Today we explore the famous Tagdilt Track, considered one of Morocco’s best birdwatching areas for desert and steppe species.

Day 4 — Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Goulmima → Merzouga
This morning we travel through the spectacular Todra Gorge with its dramatic cliffs and rocky landscapes.

Day 5 — Merzouga → Erg Chebbi Dunes → Rissani

Today we travel through dramatic desert landscapes and the beautiful Anti-Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate.
The route passes rocky hills, cliffs, valleys, and remote scenery where we may spot White-crowned Wheatear and Southern Grey Shrike.
At Barrage Mansour Eddahbi, an important wetland area, we search for:

At Cap Rhir, we enjoy a sea-watch session where shearwaters and skuas are possible.
Later, we continue north to Tamri, one of the last remaining habitats of the endangered Northern Bald Ibis — one of Morocco’s most famous bird species.

Day 9 — Oued Massa → Oued Souss
Today we explore the famous wetlands of Oued Massa and Oued Souss along Morocco’s Atlantic coast.
These protected areas are among the country’s richest birding locations and attract many resident and migratory species.
